Biography

Izidor Erazem Grafenauer was admitted to the Music Academy in Ljubljana as an exceptional talent. He graduated in 2013 in the class of Prof Andrej Grafenauer. In 2017 he received his master’s degree in periodic plucked instruments in Venice, where he studied with Prof Tiziano Bagnati. In 2018 he received his Postmaster degree in guitar in Zagreb, where he studied with with Prof. Istvan Roemer. He has received a number of highest awards at national and international competitions. He also received two Prešeren prizes for students awarded by the Academy of Music in Ljubljana.

He regurarly performs as a soloist on the guitar, baroque guitar, theorbo, baroque lute and vihuela, and as a chamber musician. He has performed at important festivals and music centres in Slovenia and various European countries (Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Italy, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Russia, Lithuania, etc.) He has been invited to perform as a soloist with the following orchestras: Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Maribor SNG Symphony Orchestra, Musica Viva Moskva, , La voce strumentale, Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra, Dubrovnik Chamber Orchestra etc. As a chamber musician, he has worked with many renowned international instrumentalists and singers. 

His first album with music for the baroque lute was published in 2018 by the Divya Records. In December 2019 his second album Baros Records with works for guitar and chamber ensembles with guitar by Slovenian composers was released. He teaches chamber music and the lute and historical plucked instruments at the Music Ljubljana Academy Academy.
